PRESERVATION – RECONSTRUCTION – ACTIVATION

Finke Estate

The Finke Estate preserves, researches, and develops the life's work of sculptor Dieter Finke — transforming a heterogeneous legacy into an open, living knowledge system. We move beyond the individual object toward the open system: the full field of thought, material, and process that defined five decades of artistic inquiry — and its place in the wider history of spatial practice.

Preservation

Collection & Classification

Strategic reduction and classification of the collection into distinct categories: original works, unique pieces, reproducible items, reconstructions, and editions. This structure enables coherent market development without compromising the integrity of the oeuvre.

Interior passage with blue Plexiglas-clad walls, a yellow ceiling light track, reflective surfaces, and a silhouetted figure walking toward an escalator.
Black-and-white studio photograph showing four tall dark sculptures on plinths and a narrow rectangular panel mounted on a whitewashed brick wall, with a small figure and boxes visible near a window at right.

Reconstruction

Archive & Narrative

Systematic digitization of the photographic estate and identification of all existing works. The archive is not a static inventory — it is the foundation for a new narrative that guides the Estate's communication, research, and curatorial direction.

Activation

Works & Aquistion

Targeted disposition through curated exhibitions, direct placements, and web-based distribution — designed to keep market segments distinct while building long-term artistic and economic value.

THE OEUVRE

Works and Archive

Five decades of works, materials, and process — held in the archive and accessible through sustained thematic inquiries into the practice. The connections within the oeuvre — across phases, media, and periods — are what the archive makes visible.

finkeNEXT

finkeNEXT is the Estate's ongoing presence on Instagram — moving through the archive as it opens. It functions as a research surface: process material, spatial studies, object fragments, reconstruction notes that trace the internal logic of Finke's practice — its materials, its systems, its recurring thresholds.
